After seeing the tape of PC Cathy Bradford with his wife just moments before she fell to her death, DC Brandon Kane's suspicions rapidly mount! He turns to Robbie Cryer who is reluctant to get involved. Is the full extent of Cathy's madness about to be discovered? Elsewhere, Cathy manages to convince the investigation team that she is emotionally distressed by his murder and spins a convincing story to distract attention away from herself. Convinced she's in control, her feelings of power are shattered by Robbie Cryer's appearance, telling her that Brandon is on to her deceit. New DI Neil Manson and DC Terry Perkins are on the case of a serial attacker who is assaulting young women with a hammer. The new DI makes a public address on television assuring people the criminal is back at the nick. He returns and is horrified to discover DC Ken Drummond has let their prime suspect go.
